Wagons of The Outriders
Every year The Outriders roll a lead wagon and a second support wagon.
The head wagon boasts a storied history. Formerly the lead wagon for Texas Independence, it was later acquired by the Hughes family before becoming the Texas Renegade Outriders’ flagship wagon and joining the Salt Grass Trail.
Red McPherson and his mule team has been the wagon’s skinner since 2025.
In 2026, Iron Horse Ranch, joined The Outriders with their wagon and team. Built by Yoder Wagon Works, it is a solid oak, modern covered wagon with wooden running gear and leaf spring suspension.
In 2025 the second wagon, a remarkable piece of history in its own right, was originally a 1909 International Harvester farm wagon that was converted to a covered wagon. In 2022, this wagon retraced history, traveling nearly 600 miles along the Great Western Trail, echoing the journeys of cattle drive wagons from Buffalo, Oklahoma to Bandera, Texas. Now, it rolls in parades, trail rides, and special events under the expert care of Debra Slate who owns and operates Wagon Rides of Bandera.
In 2024 Jeff and D’Ann Eubanks provided The Outriders the use of their wagon.
